When we started out in 2001 we were one of the first agencies to focus on UX. So what sets us apart from almost every other UX agency today? We’ve a lot of psychology degrees in our team and we use this understanding of human behaviour to inform our design process. With a new London office and exciting strategic work kicking off alongside some changes internally we are now looking for a UXD Director to lead the UX team in Bristol. The team already has more than 20 talented individuals in it. As our UXD Director you’ll be responsible for pushing forward digital design strategy across some of our biggest clients and leading UX practice, mentoring individuals to ensure we deliver amazing experience design solutions for our clients.
You’ll lead on team strategy and with other senior staff you will develop our design research practice. Of course we expect you to be incredibly passionate about UX design and actively engaged with developments in the UX field.
You will be comfortable and competent planning and directing projects and working at a senior level with clients. In this capacity you will take responsibility for the delivery of UX work, and own the quality of the methodology, insights and design produced. You’ll work with an experienced project leadership team comprising project manager and account director to help you do that.
We expect you to be fluent in contextual enquiry and lab-based research and evaluation techniques. You will create bespoke research programmes for clients (we don’t use cookie-cutter solutions). An understanding of the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of analytics is important and you need to be able to sketch concepts and architect information so that you can translate insight into preliminary and more structured design assets.
The ability to see the bigger picture and translate our client aspirations into long term multi-channel plans is a must.
All the Nomensa UX design team are client facing, and contribute to communicating and selling the value of our skills and services. As the UX Director we will expect you to foster and develop this activity within Nomensa.
We cover the full development life cycle, from research to build and delivery across PC, tablet and handset device platforms, meaning you’ll see your work realised and then monitor performance. Plus, you can count on a broad range of projects that will exercise and grow your discovery, experience design and design evaluation & testing skills.
You need to be a confident communicator, as comfortable explaining the value of UX design and strategy to a room of clients, as you are to the UX team. We create really innovative programmes to solve our clients challenges, and you will need to be able to creatively shape and work across a range UX research methods and tools.
You’ll already have agency - and possibly client side - experience, and know your way around basic design tools to support sketching concepts and wire-framing.
